Poll ranks most dangerous cosmetic surgeries, from arm lifts to bizarre eye changes
A new piece of research has delved into the topic of dangerous cosmetic surgeries, with one procedure in particular coming out on top with a 92% risk of complications.
Some people would only go under the knife when their health demands it, but there is a large group of people who are voluntarily signing up for invasive procedures on their journey to optimal beauty. Cosmetic surgeries have taken off in recent years, in part due to sensationalized social media posts showing dramatic before and after pictures.

Changing eye colors ranked as the most dangerous cosmetic surgery
From treating cellulite to lifting various parts of the body, cosmetic surgery is often a last-ditch attempt to fix what you perceive as a problem. They usually have hefty price tags attached to them, but that hasn’t stopped popularity from growing.
That interest might dip a little after you learn of a new poll from Overnight Glasses, who researched aspects of cosmetic surgery like complication rates, types of complications, recovery times, and mortality rates.
Changing eye colors, a surgery not yet approved by the FDA, is exactly as it sounds. Exact methods differ greatly, with some surgeries replacing the entire iris and others altering the color through lasers that destroy pigment.
Nonetheless, eye color change surgeries have a 92% complication rate, with issues ranging from vision loss and glaucoma to corneal damage.
Following that, the research identified that thigh lifts are the second most dangerous cosmetic surgery with a 78% complication rate. Possibly results include blood clots, infection, and altered skin sensations.
The Brazilian Butt Lift, which came in third at 37.94%, is arguably the most famous thanks to celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Amber Rose.
In the fourth spot was body lifts with a 42% complication rate followed by breast reduction surgery at 38%.
The most common surgeries are more complicated than you think
Some procedures, like lip fillers, are more accessible for the everyday person. While this is great for the beauty industry, the fairly cheap procedure carries a 64.61% complication rate. Watching an MRI of filler is enough to put anyone off.
Next on the list of dangerous cosmetic surgeries was breast augmentation at 14%, arm lifts at 21%, and breast lifts at 10%.
While nothing is set in stone, and there are obviously thousands of people walking around with BBLs and lip fillers, the study suggests that people should more carefully consider the risk factors before going under the knife.
