Dietician says green and black tea is ‘nature’s Ozempic’ and helps you feel fuller for longer
A dietician urges people to consider using ‘nature’s Ozempic’ in their daily routine by drinking more green or black tea.
The fat-loss expert explains that green and black tea help produce more GLP 1 – the same hormones as the popular weight-lossdrug Ozempic. The obesity injections, including Wegovy and Mounjaro have skyrocketed in popularity on both sides of the pond, with the help of celebrities admitting they’ve been using them to shed pounds.
Dietician says green and black tea as ‘nature’s Ozempic’
Maggie Hennigan is a fat-loss dietitian who recently reminded her followers ‘not to sleep on nature’s Ozempic‘ AKA green or black tea because the polyphenols stimulate your L cells to produce more GLP 1.
The dietitian reveals that green and black tea also makes the GLP 1, that is produced by your body, last longer, so you’re getting more and longer-lasting GLP 1.
GLP 1 is the hormone in Ozempic. Ozempic, a brand name for semaglutide, is a diabetes medication (also known as an incretin mimetic) that is recommended for people with type 2 diabetes.
However, the science is now being used to tackle obesity under different brand names, like Wegovy and Mounjaro. Ozempic is still an injection for diabetics.
Mayo Clinic states GLP-1s appear to help curb hunger, slowing the movement of food from the stomach into the small intestine. As a result, you may feel full faster and longer, so you eat less.
The dietitian says drinking between two and five cups a day is ideal, and adds collagen peptides in her tea for an additional boost of protein.
Research into weight loss and black tea
A journal published in the National Library of Medicine researched the mechanisms of body weight reduction by black tea polyphenols.
The research states that black tea, commonly referred to as fermented tea, has shown a positive effect on reducing body weight in animal models. Black tea polyphenols are the major components in the beverage, which reduce body weight.
The journal also reveals that black tea polyphenols are more effective than green tea polyphenols.
Green tea and black tea have similar health benefits, like boosting alertness and protecting heart health.
Healthline explains both green and black tea are made from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant. The key difference between the two is thatblack tea is oxidized and green tea is not. In order to make black tea, the leaves are rolled and then exposed to air to trigger the oxidation process.
