Girlfriend shares the criminal things her mother-in-law said because she wanted to marry son
While it’s known that the bond between mother and son is a strong one, one seemingly took it too far as his girlfriend said she wanted to “marry him.”
Modern relationships pose a number of issues like the difficulty of finding a match in an ocean of dating apps. Even after securing yourself a partner, first dates come with their own issues like glaring red flags. Then, of course, there is the dreaded mother-in-law, which content creator Meghan Peterson (@imtheproblem) knows all too well.
Don’t get between a mother and son
Though relationships are usually, but not always, between two people, there is no forgetting the sway and pull a mother-in-law has. That fact is not missed by the TikTok community, with many videos outlining why mother-son relationships are sometimes so troubling.
One such video from Meghan perfectly illustrated when a mother-son relationship goes too far, though shockingly, some people in the comments suggested she was overreacting.
“Random things that my ex-mother-in-law said to me because she fancied her own son,” Meghan said. “She completely blanked me for the first four days of knowing me. Incredibly awkward because I was staying at my boyfriend’s apartment at the time.”
When Meghan’s boyfriend pulled his mother up on ignoring her, she claimed there was a language barrier that she couldn’t overcome. Though she suggested that Meghan should learn her language, her own son didn’t know it and had the same accent as Meghan.
As a result, the unnamed mother required Google Translate on her phone to communicate with her son’s girlfriend.
Between the fat shaming, which also included calling her a Shetland pony, and the buckets of lies, Meghan found herself in a soap-like argument with her mother-in-law who said: “Women are always jealous of her.”
The dinner from hell
As an apology for the argument, Meghan’s mother-in-law cooked food for the entire house to enjoy. As you might expect, it didn’t end well.
The TikToker was vegetarian at the time, and so didn’t eat the meat. Naturally, her boyfriend’s mother took this as “starving” herself to lose weight, which she told her wouldn’t actually help. Instead, she whisked her into the bathroom to get weighed in front of the entire house.
For once, the internet seemed on the original poster’s side as one person wrote: “My MIL calls me a wannabe nurse&. Been a nurse for 10 years&.. shes never had a job, let alone a career.”
“My ex-mother got his old wedding album out on the first day I met her,” another person revealed, as someone else said, “Please be aware, if you marry him it means you’ll be stuck with her forever.”
