Frugal girl’s ‘method’ saves you hundreds of dollars on a new iPhone
Although inflation has forced people to cut expenses, you don’t have to compromise luxury. A TikTok user who calls herself a “frugal girl”, has just the hack you need to save hundreds of dollars.
TikTok hosts many budget-friendly hacks including our top picks – the DIY teabag strainer and a food scientist’s method to open a can without an opener. But the method the content creator user swears by stops you from spending a huge chunk of money.

Content creator shows how to save money on a new iPhone
TikTok user Lydia Bielfeldt has found a list of smart methods or “hacks” as she calls them to save money without compromising the quality of life.
One of them is the method she uses while shopping for a new iPhone and the content creator claims she saves up to $200 with it.
“Anytime I am getting a new phone, new laptop, or anything along those Apple lines, I always go to Best Buy trade-in and Apple trade-in,” she says. Trade-in, for the uninitiated, is the exchange of a used item in part payment or for a new phone.
She claims she’s got “at least $200 off” on Best Buy “even if it (old phone) is not in the best condition.” The same goes for Apple products, wherein the store evaluates the value of your used product or offers you a gift card or discount on an in-store purchase.”
More tips from the frugal girl
Did you like the method the frugal girl uses to buy a new phone? She has more tips. Lydia says she always chooses generic items over the name brand while grocery shopping. “I don’t need $8 Quaker Oats if I can get three-dollar Aldi oats,” the content creator says.
She also spends less on transportation by using Uber Share, which allows you to split the taxi fare with fellow passengers, or she chooses Curb. The US taxi service doesn’t have rush hour prices.
Her third tip, by far, is most intriguing as long it works for you. She recommends shopping from the kids’ section as the same product in an adult section cost way more.
