‘Convenient’ iPhone Maps hack shows time you need to leave without any math

Working out what time you need to leave when driving somewhere is annoying. You have to find out how long the drive will take then work backwards in your head – but not anymore.

A woman has shared an epic iPhone Maps hack that tells you exactly what time you need to leave the house without doing any math at all, saving you loads of time and effort.

Clever iPhone Maps hack will save you time

“I just found out the biggest hack and I feel like nobody knows this,” she said on TikTok, adding that it’s “so convenient” and such a “time saver”.

The woman revealed there is a setting in the Apple Maps app called “Arrive by” that reveals when you need to leave. As well as telling you how long it will take to get to the destination, it also gives you the time to set off.

Let’s say you need to get to your destination by 9am. All you have to do is enter that into the Maps app and it will do all the calculating for you, showing the exact time in hours and minutes that you need to begin your journey.

“It will tell you what time you need to leave by instead of you doing the math. I never in life knew this,” she said in shock.

How to find out what time you need to leave

  1. Open Apple Maps
  2. Search your desination
  3. Tap ‘Now’
  4. Choose ‘Arrive by’
  5. Select a time
  6. Press ‘Apply’

Then, it will show what time you need to leave. This is calculated according to expected traffic patterns, Apple says, so your arrival time could change while you driving.
