Its a grim state of affairs when a birthday celebration made to feel as if its sponsored by a multinational retail corporation has social media users obsessed.
But thats the world we live in. TikToks Alesia Liashko shared a video of her Costco themed party earlier this month. It has since received comments that read as if they were written by the grocery giants public relations team: In CostCo we trust.

The video includes clips of her front door, which has a price of 798 it doesnt include a dollar sign, but lets presume its priced in US dollars.

On entering her house, guests are required to pick up their Costco membership cards. Next is the area of wall celebrating her wonderful staff, including employee of the year Lila (the dog), and birthday girl Alesia.
And then, for some reason, theres a blue, white and red balloon archway leading into a different wall, to which is adhered an A4 sheet of paper bearing the words: Costco, the happiest place on earth.
The party has proved immensely popular
Liashko has fewer than 400 followers on TikTok, yet her Costco themed birthday party video has picked up more than 2.3 million views. If she doesnt work for Costco, the giant ought to consider paying her for an ingenious bit of advertising.
Among those commenting on the video is one user who describes just getting Costco food instead of, you know, preparing something for your guests as genius and BRILLIANT.
Another has commented simply: Welcome to Costco, I love you!
One user from West Virginia says its her dream to go to Costco. Dream big. And several commenters have tagged their friends and suggested they organize similarly corporate-adulatory celebrations for their 18th birthday parties. You do you.
Where is the worlds largest Costco?
In 2005, Costco opened its largest store to date in Hillsboro, Oregon. It was the companys 692nd store, and occupied 148,663 sq ft (13,811.2 m2).
However, it was usurped in 2015 following the expansion of a Costco store in Salt Lake City, Utah. Its new square footage was 235,000 (21,800 m2). To put it into perspective, that’s about four (American) football fields.
Costco is currently working on getting approval to build an even larger store in Fresno, California.
The worlds smallest Costco is in Juneau, Alaska. The companys revenue in 2023 was $242 billion; it is the third largest retailer in the world, and the worlds largest retailer of rotisserie chicken.
Im English and this is the best thing Ive ever seen, commented one user on the TikTok video described above. As a Brit, it is her privilege, too, to gorge herself on Costco products. The wholesale giant plans to add 14 branches in the UK over the next two years, on top of the 29 that already exist there.
