McDonald’s testing new McCrispy Chicken Strips in seven locations

McDonald’s is testing a new menu item called McCrispy Chicken Strips, and this could be the start of the Snack Wrap return.

The breaded chicken tenders are currently available at seven stores across the US for a limited time to test their operational impact in restaurants.

McDonald’s testing McCrispy Chicken Strips

The McCrispy Strips are McDonald’s new and improved chicken tenders, following the Chicken Selects and Buttermilk Crispy Tenders which are no longer available.

They feature white chicken breast meat covered in a seasoned breading and are being tested at restaurants in Hickory, North Carolina right now. Three strips cost $4.99 and come in at 500 calories, but the test is sadly ending on Sunday, July 21 2024.

“Our fans have so much love for our crispy, juicy, tender McCrispy sandwich, and were always considering ways to bring even more delicious chicken options to our menu,” McDonald’s told Instagram user Snach With Zach.

“Were currently conducting a small-scale test of McCrispy Strips at seven restaurants in Hickory, North Carolina, that will conclude on July 21, 2024. This test will allow us to learn more about potential operational impact in restaurants.”

The McCrispy Strips are rumored to be launching at the fast food chain nationwide in September, but this hasn’t been confirmed.

One guy reviewed the new menu item on TikTok and said it’s better than the chicken you get on the McCrispy sandwich but felt like they lacked something.

It comes as the much-loved McDonald’s Smoky BLT Quarter Pounder has just returned nationwide for a limited time after two years.

@McDonald’s is testing McCrispy Strips in Hickory, NC for one week only. I stopped by a McDonald’s in nearby Conover to try the return of chicken strips. These are NOT like the old Chicken Selects… #mcdonalds #fastfood #foodreview #mccrispy #tastetest

McCrispy Chicken Strips tease Snack Wrap return

Many are suspecting that the McCrispy Strips will be used in the new Snack Wraps, which are confirmed to be coming back.

In a December 2023 press release, McDonald’s announced plans to offer the McCrispy in nearly all marketsaround the world by the end of 2025 and “expand McCrispy into wraps and tenders”.

“These planned innovations and new menu offerings reflect the companys ability to test and scale quickly to serve customers,” they said.

The McCrispy Strips are the tenders, so it looks like we could see the new wraps being tested somewhere really soon.

Snack Wrap were discontinued back in 2016 as they were too complex to construct, but everyone was devasted.

Eight years on, a new McDonald’s wrap is finally on its way, but there’s no news as to when it will be arriving just yet.

Keep your eyes peeled!
