Health coach’s tip to fix your gut issues while battling a ‘functional freeze’

If you find yourself experiencing gut issues, addicted to your phone yet emotionally numb and tired, you could be stuck in functional freeze according to a health coach’s predictions. To tackle these issues and heal the body, you must learn how to heal within.

A wellness expert on TikTok predicts your gut issues may be a result of a functional freeze, and is encouraging people to try holistic practices in order to get your body out of survival mode stress and into a regulated state.

The ‘functional freeze’

A gut and nervous system coach known online as @healthcoachlisa shared a video explaining the effects of functional freeze and survival mode.

“The reason you find yourself unable to watch a show without mindlessly scrolling on social media, taking days to reply to texts, feeling emotionally numb, yet constantly overwhelmed with anxiety is because you’re stuck in functional freeze and survival mode,” She wrote.

Health expert Lisa suggests people suffering from functional freeze “probably also experience gut issues, struggle with weight loss, and never feel truly rested even after sleeping a lot.”

Functional freeze refers to a state in which individuals remain capable of performing tasks and functioning in daily life, according to Khiron Clinics.

Survival mode is another term for continuous, unresolved stress, also known as chronic stress. Accelerated Resolution Therapy explains that all humans experience stress at some point, but in survival mode, stress has been prolonged to a degree where a person feels unable to relax.

If you suffer from these issues, you may need to gently get your body out of functional freeze and into a regulated state.

In the caption of the viral video that has reached over six million views, Health Coach Lisa encourages people who can relate to try the holistic practices in her free guide titled Top Ten Tips for Gut & Hormone Health.”

Lisa includes some practical advice like moving your body, drinking more water, getting better sleep, going barefoot on the grass more often, swapping household and personal care products for less toxic ones, and lots more.

However, she encourages people to recognize the interconnectedness of the body with the natural world – the air, water, earth, and sunlight since these connections are integral to health: “To heal the body, we must first heal the energy. The physical is a reflection of the energetic.”
