Why dead people are made to wear diapers

Every dead person is placed in a diaper, says the mortician on TikTok famous for her content discussing death. She says “nothing’s embarrassing” about seeing your loved ones in diapers because there are just preventive measures.

Genesis says everyone gets a diaper on dying regardless of their age. “There are bodily fluids that can be released after death which is perfectly normal,” she explains.

Purging is a common occurrence in a dead body. It can stain the clothes and result in a foul smell due to the leakage. Another condition called Hydrocele also causes the scrotum to swell and results in leakage, which is the job of the mortician to prevent.

The human body displays tell-tale signs of death that aren’t always easy to watch. Cheyne-Stokes breathing long deep breaths followed by a long pause – is one such commonly seen deathbed phenomenon.

Mortician says preventive measure is important

Genesis goes on to explain the reason for using diapers on dead people – it saves a lot of embarrassment.

“To prevent the little accidents from happening, we have to cover all of our bases and we do it in a very gentle and respectful way,” she says.

The mortician shares: “Placing a diaper on a deceased is not something that we view as embarrassing or degrading. It’s just something we do to care for your loved one and prepare them for their final disposition.”
