Very British YouTubers shock Americans as they try strange ice cream flavors like baked beans

Two British YouTubers have shocked and repulsed their viewers by trying an array of London ice cream with flavors like pesto, baked beans, and even vinegar.

If you take a look on the internet in 2024 then you will undoubtedly have learned about the cultural divide between the UK and the US. So far, the divide has sparked entertaining moments like a difference in air-con opinions, and a British man trying pimento cheese for the first time.

The ice cream flavors too strange for British palettes

With over 800 videos and nearly 4 million followers, Ollie Kendal and Josh Carrott (@JOLLY) are staple features on YouTube where they usually post comedy-centered content on a number of topics.

In a video uploaded at the end of June, Josh and Ollie stepped out to try some strange ice cream flavors at Anya Hindmarch in London.

Starting out strong, the two lads chowed down on some baked bean ice cream, which we already know is a highly debated food for Americans.

While Josh looked instantly displeased with the flavor, Ollie seemed to ponder it more before coming to a conclusion. They said it was a subtle “savory and sweet” flavor moments before discovering a frozen bean inside the sweet treat.

Josh was also not a fan of the pesto flavor, while Ollie somewhat enjoyed the “strange” combination of texture and taste. He even admitted that it was “something I think I like, but I feel bad about liking it.”

It only gets stranger from there

Though coffee and peanut butter were relatively normal flavors to experience, the boys were soon treated to pickle-flavored ice cream they claimed would pair perfectly with a sandwich.

“The overwhelming flavor is sourness, right?” Ollie questioned. “So it’s not something that one really longs for in an ice cream, you know, like, if you go into a breakup, you’re sat in the bathtub, do you want to eat it?”

After barely enjoying the sourness of some pickles, Ollie and Josh picked up ice cream made from malt vinegar, which Brits usually use on fish and chips. As you might expect, both of the men had visceral reactions as they claimed it almost tasted “fruity” or like “sour raspberries.”

The last strange ice cream flavor was, drum roll please, soy sauce! Despite the condiment usually being present in most Asian dishes, both of the YouTubers had trouble swallowing it.

“This is like playing a game with your brain. It triggers all of these different tastes that you have tasted before in different settings, but just do not belong together,” Josh added.
