Seth Rogen unveils Gloopy Ashtray

Actor-turned-entrepreneur Seth Rogen has a new invention, and it’s available to buy sooner than you think.

“The Gloopy Ashtray, made with 100 per cent real Seth’s gloop,” the star said in a Twitter video, holding up the abstract ashtray.

Hype Beast reports the product has a bright porcelain finish and was designed by Rogen himself.

“I wanted to make something that was outwardly psychedelic, truly trippy and texturally pleasing to hold and handle,” Seth told the publication.

If you want to get your hands on your own Gloopy Ashtray, you’ll have to be quick – only 325 units are being sold.

If you didn’t make the early access, Hype Beast reports any remaining products will be available on 27 April for sale to the general public.

It’s not currently clear how much the ashtray will cost but, looking at the pricing of Houseplant’s other products, you can expect to pay upwards of $100.

Seth Rogen on the success of Houseplant

It’s fair to say Rogen’s business venture is turning out to be pretty successful. In March 2021, he told Vogue: “I like design and I started buying vintage ashtrays because that was the closest thing I could find to a well-designed home good that was designed with smoking of some sort in mind.

“There was a time when brilliant designers would make ashtrays and it drew creative energy but, very rightfully, smoking cigarettes went out of style and the thought behind that kind of lifestyle went out of style as well. But I found myself repurposing these old things and then started to think, ‘What if we just made new versions of these things?’

“It’s not something a lot of other people are putting thought into, and it’s something I personally know I would really want. It has been insanely gratifying. I never thought it was a field I would get into or something I would feel so passionately about or something I thought I could express myself so clearly through.”
