28 sodas, juices, and other drinks recalled over harmful chemical concerns by the FDA
While we might only be six months into the year, but the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has already been forced to recall 28 drinks and beverages from the American public.
Though practically every product on Earth goes through a series of checks before being pushed to the public, some issues do manage to slip through the cracks like the Starbucks mugs that were injuring people earlier this year.
The FDA has been busy in 2024
As per a report from the Mail Online, the FDA has been forced to recall nearly 30 beverages in 2024 due to the potential presence of harmful ingredients. Of the recalled products, 86% contained undeclared ingredients ranging from bacteria to harmful chemicals and drugs.
One of the beverages, Himalayan pain relief tea, was recalled for not disclosing the anti-inflammatory medication it houses, while Martinellis Apple Juice was found to contain amounts of arsenic.
One of the biggest recalls of the year came in May when the FDA recalled 78,533 cases or 1.9 million bottles of Fiji Water. Often pegged as Gen Z’s beverage of choice, much like how the Stanley Cup is their chosen container, the Fiji water was shown to harbor three bacteria and the mineral manganese,
The Charles Boggini Company also took a hit in 2024 as government officials forced a recall of their Pink Lemonade, Yellow Lemonade, and Yellow Lemonade X. Their Cola Flavoring Base was also subjected to a recall due to the presence of carcinogenic dyes Red40 and Yellow 5.
