7 April Fools Day products that brands need to make a reality

Each year, April Fool’s Day provides companies with the perfect time to trial potential products without the need to actually launch them.

April Fool’s Day lands on April 1 each year, and with it, an array of pranks, practical jokes, and hilarious puns. Though the origins of the holiday are still unknown, historians have recorded events as far back as 1508!

In 2014, Domino’s teased fans with the release of The Edibox, which was essentially an edible pizza box made from dough. The idea reportedly came after research suggested that the most popular part of the pizza was the crust.

Over the last few months weve been working with our expert Crust Technicians to go where no pizza company has gone before to develop a world first in snackaging innovation,” the fast food company said at the time. Why think outside the box when you can eat it?

Tinder bans fish pictures

It’s a well-known cultural joke that most men have a picture of themselves holding a giant fish. These usually end up on dating apps where they are supposed to attract love interests. Let’s be honest, they don’t.

Hoping to tackle (pardon the pan) the issue once and for all, Tinder jokingly banned fish pictures during April Fool’s Day in 2023.

We are always listening to our members and it’s clear that the ubiquitous fish pic is something that needs to be addressed on our app, said Sal Mon, Head of Community Pictures at Tinder. We cast a wide net out for fish pics in order to elevate our members experience on Tinder and remove a barrier for them to meet their match.

As the most popular drink in Scotland, it was only natural for UK supermarket Morrisons to combine the Irn-Bru with the coconut goodness of Malibu.

“The Scottish nectar with the refreshing taste of summer. A perfect clash of two worlds, both unashamedly proud to do whatever tastes phenomenal,” they said last year.

Though undeniably questionable, we can’t help but wonder just how refreshing the drink would be during the long hot months.

Before you jump to judgment, think back to the last time you devoured a whole tube of salt and vinegar pringles. Remember that tingle on your lips? This was the premise of the 2021 Pringles lip balm which seemed to attract a lot of positive attention.

One person said: “It gives the same burn on your lips as the real salt and vinegar chips.”

McDonald’s milkshake sauces

In 2019, McDonald’s teased their loyal fans with sauce pots in their signature milkshake flavors like strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate. The joke came after a trend on social media where customers would dip their fries into their milkshakes.

Though funny, customers really wanted the prank to be real as one person quipped on Twitter: “Im guessing this is an April Fools Joke&. but I wish it wasnt.”

Maryland’s avocado cookies

Though this one might be a little controversial, you can’t deny that the creamiest avocado would go perfectly with chocolate.
