Nestl has been forced to recall 440,500 Starbucks mugs after over a dozen customers reported injuries ranging from cuts to burns.

The announcement was made earlier today

On Thursday, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled nearly half a million Starbucks mugs following customer complaints. As per the report, the metallic mugs were included in the 2023 holiday-branded gift sets from the iconic coffee shop.

The Starbucks mugs, which carry the 24-171 recall number, were sold in both 11 oz. and 16 oz. The products were also included in the Starbucks holiday gift set with two mugs, Starbucks classic hot cocoa and mug, Starbucks peppermint and classic hot cocoa and mug, and Starbucks holiday blend coffee and mug.

Some customers reported that the mugs would shatter or break when put in the microwave or filled with hot liquids. This posed a series of risks including cuts, bruising, and burns.

“If microwaved or filled with extremely hot liquid, the mugs can overheat or break, posing burn and laceration hazards,” they said in the announcement.

As of Thursday, there were 12 reported incidents including 9 burns or blisters on hands.
