Subway chooses its beverage partner for next ten years and its not Coca-Cola

Subway has officially designated its beverage partner for the next decade in a move that will no doubt divide opinions and taste buds.

It’s reasonable to say that most fast-food brands have a drink they are typically associated with, like McDonald’s and Coca-Cola. Though Subway has never seemed married to a specific beverage, it looks like that trend is about to change.

Subway announces its new drinks partner

On Tuesday, Subway announced that it would be partnering with PepsiCo at its US restaurants from January 1, 2025. Thankfully, the food brand also extended its work with Frito-Lay until 2030.

Under the new deal, Subway stores across the nation will be kitted out with a range of products including Pepsi, Pepsi Zero Sugar, MTN DEW, Starry, Tropicana, Lipton, and Aquafina. Fans of Gatorade will also be pleased, as Subway is set to get a “larger selection” of Gatorade drinks.

“The partnership with PepsiCo is an exciting milestone in our journey to become America’s favorite place to eat, drink and work,” said Doug Fry, President of Subway, North America. “It is a win-win for everyone, as it brings a delicious suite of beverage and snack choices to our guests, driving additional consideration of these menu items, while also providing cost-effective, streamlined solutions to our franchisees.”

The move will take some time

The changeover is expected to take several months as Subway franchises are decked out with a range of specialty equipment.

Pepsico representative Anne Fink added: “The agreement with Subway represents two iconic companies coming together to further their commitment to delivering operational excellence and driving breakthrough innovation for consumers across the U.S.

“Together, we’re elevating the consumer experience with dynamic beverage and snack offerings including those that appeal to a broad spectrum of consumers bringing new flavors to Subway fans in a powerful way.”
