Fun new gadget could help you find lost friends at nightclubs and festivals
There is now a handy tech device for people struggling to stay with their friends at festivals, clubs, or holidays.
Everyone has at least one friend who vanishes without so much as a word. If you cant seem to identify that friend in your group, then its probably you.

Never get lost again
In 2019, Chase Lemonds was left wandering around EDC Festival in Orlando, Florida, when he came up with a revolutionary idea.
Upon meeting co-founder Carter Fowler in 2023, Chase decided to bring this idea to life with a gadget designed to keep you connected at festivals.
They pen on their company website: We believe that life’s most beautiful moments are experienced alongside the people we love. And everyoneregardless of race, creed, or upbringingdeserves a beautiful life filled with love.
Everything we do is guided by four principles: Love, Unity, Simplicity, and Beauty.
In a recent TikTok, Carter explained the function of the compass and how it could benefit the 32 million people who attend music festivals in the U.S. each year.
When its just hanging around your neck its in vibe mode, he said. If theres music playing it, you know, vibes to the music.
Though the flashing lights initially mirrored the beat of the music, upon picking the necklace up it entered into compass mode.
It starts pointing in the direction of your friends. Each friend receives a dedicated color on it and it updates in real time. All you have to do is decide which friend you wanna find, he continued. Find their light and just walk in that direction until you find them.
Currently, you can pair with up to four other compasses, though Carter explained that you can be smart with how you pair devices, so to maximize a friendship circle.
In terms of functionality, the Totem Compass can reach distances of 1000 meters but works on a peer-to-peer mesh network.
As he highlighted: Every single compass that is nearby you, even if youre not bonded to it, extends your signal along to your friends.
There seems to be an appetite for the Totem Compass
Since launching, they have gathered over 30 million views on social media and over $2.4M in presales in one month. Pricing starts at $49 but they get cheaper the more you buy as a group.
People seem interested on social media, with comments ranging from Need one now to his looks cool but phone also works.
Following a customer question, the creators of the device added: Yestheres a button on the back where you can send an SOS to your friends that you want to be found. Your light on their compasses will start blinking so they know to come find you.
Users also saw value in the compass beyond its original purpose, with some suggesting the creators could branch out into blinking dog trackers, or even necklaces for kids in busy places.
