TikTok’s new name for old dogs

People on TikTok are calling their elderly pooches ‘Fossil Dogs’ after one viral video which has had more than 12 million views.

In the clip, a pet owner wrote: “When your 18-year-old fossil dog takes a wrong turn and ends up in your room.”

She then filmed her old pooch, who looked really confused, and added a viral sound that says: “Excuse me. I need your help. You need to kill me.”

The audio is from another TikTok video in which someone spotted a pumpkin that resembled Donald Trump and mimicked his voice.

The nickname ‘Fossil Dog’ insinuates that the dog is so old it’s a fossil, referring to preserved animal remains in the Earth’s crust.

People love ‘Fossil Dog’

People are crying with laughter in the comments, with one person writing: “This cracked me up way more than I thought it would.”

Another said: “I’ve never heard of fossil dogs before and I’m wheezing.”

“I’m just sitting her laughing my a** off,” someone else wrote.

Another said on Twitter/X: “TikTok calling old dogs fossil dogs is sending me.”

Trend takes over TikTok

Now, the trend has gone viral on TikTok and everyone is sharing funny videos of their old, grey ‘Fossil Dogs’.

One person showed their 16-year-old mutt who is blind, deaf, going into kidney failure and coughs every time he walks.

“Don’t worry guys, he’s on comfort care and a s*** ton of drugs until it’s his time,” she assured people.
