The Crookie is TikToks latest obsession, and its surprisingly easy to make

As a combination of two beloved foods from two countries, the crookie is racking up thousands of likes and legions of instant fans.

Yes, TikTok might be full of silly dances and awkward relationship trends, but its also the realm of genius food and drink hacks like this new invention using cookie dough and a croissant.

Almost too sweet

Stuffing croissants full of scrumptious goodies is nothing especially new in the food world. In the past, geniuses have created combinations of croissant and waffle, called croffle. There was also the croissant and donut, called a ‘cronut’, and croissants and muffins to create cruffins.

A new trend on TikTok sees food content creators combine a freshly baked croissant with the ooey-gooey goodness of melted cookie dough.

Though incredibly simple, the BBC reports that the crookie was invented in 2022 by Maison Louvard. Following their success, Louvard is now forced to meet a quota of 1,500 crookies a day.

All you need to do is cut open a croissant, stuff it with as much cookie dough as possible, and then bake in the oven.

TikTok is in love with the crookie

The latest internet obsession has certainly turned heads on Instagram and TikTok as videos are racking up millions of views and thousands of likes.

One person gasped: So easy to make at home. :I just got croissants from Costco, made a cookie dough and voila. I got 12 crookies.

I made these at home this weekend. They were delicious! another said, as a third added, I had to take a deep breathe that looks so good.

But not everyone is on board, as someone explained: As a professional pastry chef I’m sooo confused how so many people are hyped for this, it sounds like a texture nightmare, but maybe I should try it?

Someone else suggested: Also works great with puff pastry. I make cookie sticks wrapped in a ribbon of puff pastry.
