Dairy Queen’s Cherry Dipped Cone is coming back but only for a limited time
Dairy Queen has confirmed that the much-loved Cherry Dipped Cone is coming back after being discontinued last year.
The fan-favorite dessert item was taken off the menu in May 2023 and it’s returning less than a year on, but only for a limited time.
Cherry Dipped Cone is coming back
A Dairy Queen District Manager in Michigan called Miranda, who has more than 2.2 million followers on TikTok, first announced the news in a video at the start of March.
“Back in May I announced that Cherry Cone Dip was being discontinued and replaced with butterscotch and I knew a lot of people would be upset,” she said. “Due to popular demand, cherry is coming back.”
The Cherry Dipped Cone is a bright red, cherry-flavored hard shell topping for Dairy Queen’s beloved soft-serve ice cream.
A Dairy Queen spokesperson then confirmed its return to Today, saying: “We know our fans love the Cherry Dipped Cone, and were excited to bring this sweet offering back for a limited time at participating locations.”
“We are always innovating our menus to showcase delicious new and fan-favorite flavors for our iconic dipped cone,” they added.
The iconic flavor is rolling out at Dairy Queen locations nationwide right now, and it’s already been spotted at some stores as of March 5.
Dairy Queen fans are so excited
People are ecstatic that the menu item is returning, with one person writing on Instagram: “These are my favorite! Cant wait.”
“I love these, so good,” said another.
A third person added: “Yesss I have missed this one.”
“I’m so looking forward to it,” someone else wrote.
The flavor was discontinued last year, leaving everyone heartbroken, but the chain teased that it wouldn’t be forever.
“At this time, the Cherry Dipped Cone at Dairy Queen is being discontinued, a Dairy Queen spokesperson told Today. “That said, DQ is always rotating our dipped cone flavors and Cherry Dipped Cones may return in the future.”
Its return comes as Dairy Queen has also just launched a brand-new Confetti Dipped Cone which tastes just like cake batter. It consists of “Cold, creamy DQ vanilla soft serve cone covered in a confetti cake flavored cone dip,” the description says.
