States that celebrate St. Patrick’s Day the ‘hardest’ revealed in surprising new survey
The American States that party the hardest during St. Patrick’s Day has been revealed in a new survey from Test Casinos.
St. Patricks Day is a religious and cultural holiday observed across the world on March 17, the traditional death date of Saint Patrick. Its a time of celebration and hardcore partying, with brands like McDonalds even jumping in on the action with products like the Shamrock Shake.

Does your state rank?
In a survey of 2,000 Americans, Test Casinos identified that 44% of participants were planning on celebrating the holiday compared to the 56% that are not.
The survey also highlighted the American States that tend to rage the hardest during the holiday, with Alabama and Kansas coming out on top with an average of 5 alcoholic beverages. For comparison, the national average was 3 drinks.
Following Alabama and Kansas came Oklahoma with 5, Pennsylvania with 4, and Georgia with 4. At an average of three drinks over the night came New Mexico, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Rhode Island, Texas, and North Carolina.
Interestingly, the states with a high density of Irish people did not rank as the hardest partying states. Such states include New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont.

Despite the holidays connection to boozy culture, most Americans (39%) admitted to partaking in non-alcoholic beverages during the holiday. Such popularity seemingly matches the wider cultural trends like dry dating and dry January. The second most popular drink choice at 23% was Irish beer brands like Guinness.
How are Americans celebrating St. Patricks Day?
Though 2024s St. Patricks Day seems to be taking a more low-key approach than past years, Americans are still stepping out in force as 84% don green in tribute.
For 37%, the holiday entails a rowdy pub night, while for 25% St Patricks Day calls for going to a party.
