Bring the battle to your room

The new tech, called GameScent, uses artificial intelligence (AI) to release a scent that relates to the type of game youre playing. For instance, thanks to its patent-pending adaptor, the unit would release rain during a storm scene, or gunfire smells during Call of Duty.

The add-on uses swappable cartridges and also removes scents via a clean air neutralizer to keep your room smelling fresh post-gaming session.

The device can plug into HDMI or a 3.5mm audio jack and can be used by PCs, consoles, and VR headsets. Its currently priced at $149.99 (usually $179.99) on Amazon.

“Studies have shown that the sense of smell imprints in long-term memory more strongly than anything else,” GameScent President Casey Bunce wrote in a press release. “With GameScent, we’re hoping to elevate gamers’ experiences to be more exciting and memorable than they ever have been before.”

Currently, the base product comes with scents including gunfire, explosion, racing, clean air, storm, and forest. DLC scents are also said to include Napalm, Human Exertion, Ocean, and Golf Course.

Gaming fans are confused by the smell premise

Though the new piece of technology is undoubtedly exciting, many have been left wondering who would want their bedroom smelling like sweat or a warzone.
