How to get an Aztec Death Whistle

The actual history of the Aztec Death Whistle goes back to the 1999 excavation of Tlatelolco in Mexico City. The archeologists at the Aztec temple discovered the remains of a sacrificial victim alongside various musical instruments, one of them being the whistle.

Ironically, scientists didnt realize the whistle was a whistle at first. 15 years after the discovery, someone blew into the hole at the top and discovered the horrendous feature.

Its believed that the whistle was meant to represent the wind to honor the god Ehecatl. There is also a belief that hundreds of warriors would use the whistle at the same time, though there is little evidence to back this claim up.

Though only one whistle was found, the discovery created such a phenomenon that they are now available on sites like Amazon at a range of prices and styles. Though not authentic, they make a shocking sound nonetheless.

Just last year, scientists recreated the original sound using a 3D printer. The clip, posted by YouTuber James J. Orgill, was dubbed the scariest sound on the planet.

He said at the time: This has been deemed the most terrifying sound in the world. Believe it or not, this is not a human scream. The sound that the death whistle makes innately strikes fear into your heart.
