Summary of TikTok’s ‘Who TF Did I Marry’

The story begins in March 2020, when Reesa met her ex-husband, who she nicknames Legion, on two dating sites, Facebook Dating and Hinge. He was on both under two different names and used different pictures on each, so she didn’t realise it was the same person at first.

They decided to meet up, but her tyre blew on the way to their first date at the Cheesecake Factory. Legion came to her rescue and paid for the new tyre himself, so they went on the date and really hit it off. Then, the pandemic hit two weeks later and he moved into her house but covered all the bills.

He told her he was the Vice President of a major condiments company who earned a lot of money, and he was always on work calls at home. She believed him because he never gave her a reason to be suspicious at first.

Legion told her he had five siblings, one of which he spoke on the phone to every day in front of her – or so she thought. He also told Reesa he had an ex-wife and was close to her kids, a 20-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy.

The pair tried to purchase a house together but it fell through. In April 2020, she found out she was pregnant and they put in a cash offer for another house, a beautiful $699,000 family home. He claimed he had been approved for the mortgage with Chase Bank, but it fell through again.

In July 2020, she found out that she had sadly miscarried and Legion wasn’t around to comfort her. He said he had business meetings that he couldn’t miss. After that, he told her that his ex-wife’s daughter died of covid, and his grandma passed too.

Husband’s whole life was a pathological lie

Legion proposed in December 2020 and the pair quickly married in January 2021. However, three days after the wedding, she found out he had been cheating since November. That’s when the lies all started to unravel.

She went to marriage counselling and the pastor said something wasn’t right about Legion. After he promised to buy her a car which never arrived, she bought herself a Nissan and needed to get another job to help pay for it.

The new job wanted to background check her husband too and she noticed Legion’s social security was different to what he put on the marriage license. So, she searched the number and found out his entire life was one huge lie.

He wasn’t a Vice President, he was a temporary forklift driver. That means every single work call he ever made was fake. Legion even used to pretend to reprimand employees and speak to the company president during phone calls to her.

The guy didn’t have five siblings either, he only had two brothers. He hadn’t been in contact with the one he claimed to speak to on the phone since 2015, so every single call to him was made up too. His ex-wife’s daughter never died from covid either. Plus, his grandma passed in 2008, not 2020.

It all ended on his birthday, June 17, 2021, when she confronted him. Reesa told Legion she knew about all the lies and wanted him out of the house. He left and she changed her locks and alarm. They got a quick divorce, which he reluctantly signed, and she hasn’t had any contact with him since.
