Oppenheimer won Best Film

The viral moment happened on Sunday just moments after Oppenheimer won Best Film. The films leading star, Cillian Murphy, was joined on stage by director Christopher Nolan and lead producer, Emma Thomas. As Thomas made her speech, the group got one person bigger as Lizwani joined them in a dark suit.

While no one said anything and security was not rushed on stage, the awards show later said they had removed him from the venue after the acceptance speech.

A social media prankster was removed by security last night after joining the winners of the final award on stage we are taking this very seriously, and dont wish to grant him any publicity by commenting further, BAFTA said in a statement.

Despite the fact the award show has taken the infringement very seriously, social media is split between those who thought it was hilarious and those who deemed it disrespectful.

One person wrote on Twitter, now called X: I wondered who he was. Just a thoughtless idiot, then.

At least he didnt ruin anything but come on thats a terrible lapse in security, another person said, while a third added, Not gonna lie, I did wonder who the guy was?

On TikTok, someone else wrote: I don’t think it is a problem as long as he just stands there. It’s just kinda funny.
