New dating app needs your credit score before you can join
The internets latest dating app, Score, has divided opinions online after it was revealed that you need a good credit score to be accepted.
The world of dating apps has progressed in recent years and we are now in the era of exclusive apps dedicated to specific life experiences. Raya, Millionaire Match, The Inner Circle, and The League are but a few of the dating sites offering what they deem as high-caliber matches.
Dating app Score has entered the chat

Score, launched by financial platform Neon Money Club, has been hitting the headlines since it was unveiled on Monday. Though apps like Tinder and Bumble accept virtually anyone, Score only admits daters with a good credit score of 675 and above.
While the majority (67%) of Americans meet the basic requirement, 33% dont meet the good criteria. Credit scoring services label scores of 579 or less as poor, between 580 and 669 as fair and between 670 and 739 as good.
OH NO: New survey finds only 16.2% of Americans rate their job satisfaction 8/10
Great credit scores fall between 740 and 799, but only 21% of the population ranks at exceptional with 800 or higher.
“Financial wellness often takes a backseat,” said CEO Luke Bailey in a press release. “‘Score’ aims to elevate the discussion around financial health, which has remained stagnant for decades.”

Jackie Liao, CPO of Neon Money Club, added: SCORE is just one of the many rollouts were doing to bring financial wellness to the table because the table itself is boring and outdated. We’re beginning with love, and were in good company. A recent Federal Reserve study recognized that individuals with high credit scores are more inclined to establish committed relationships.
How does it work?
Upon signing up, singletons provide their name, email, phone number, birthday, address, and the last four digits of their social security number. Equifax then runs a soft credit check, which does not impact your overall credit score.
If you meet the 675 requirement, you progress to create the rest of your profile. Despite the initial mandatory criteria, other users are not able to view your credit score or how you rank amongst other users. Therefore, its reasonable to assume that someone with the minimum requirement could match with an exceptional individual.
The dating app has divided opinion over credit score usage
While most users on Twitter and TikTok saw the thought process behind the app, there are concerns over the exclusionary nature of the requirement. After all, there are a lot of reasons why your credit score could be low. Low credit doesnt necessarily mean a bad match.
It seems like the app is targeting individuals who prioritize financial responsibility and stability in their relationships. Good luck, one person wrote on X, formally called Twitter.
Someone else said: Absolutely necessary. There should be a minimum 700 credit score & a minimum verified income for all members should be an added requirement too.
A balanced opinion read: On the one hand, it could be seen as a way to ensure that people on the app are financially responsible and stable.
“On the other hand, it could be seen as exclusionary or classist, as it may exclude people who are struggling with debt or other financial challenges.
