Duolingo mascot flaunts ‘BBL surgery’ at the Super Bowl in bizarre 5-second commercial

The Duolingo owl mascot shocked his legions of fans during the Super Bowl as he upstaged Usher with a bum joke. Yes, you read that right.�

The Duolingo owl has become a cult icon, much like Elmo, since launching its social media career on the TikTok and Instagram platforms. He often gets into drama, plays pranks, and takes part in various viral trends.

Duolingo goes under the knife��

On Saturday, the Duolingo mascot took his 9.8 million followers along as he visited TV star, author, and surgeon, Michael Salzhauer. Michael, better known as Doctor Miami, told Duo he was going to get a big big butt by way of a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL).�

Presumably, Dr Miami didnt have any actual clients that day as he performed an entire skit with the green mascot. The sketch involved attaching more padding to Duos bum, doing a little dance, and then skipping down the street.�

Since posting, TikTok has accumulated over 1.1 million views, 146k likes, and hundreds of comments ranging from supportive to confused. But then, the plot thickened.�

During the Super Bowl on Sunday, the language learning company spent a crazy amount of money on a five-second ad featuring Duolingo’s new booty.�

The clip featured Duos BBL expanding and then popping to reveal Do your Duolingo and Do your lesson, no buts.

Back in 2022, adverts at the sporting game cost $233,000 per second, so its reasonable to assume that the company spent at least $1 million on the butt stunt.�

Everyone was shocked by the Duolingo Super Bowl ad

Half of social media is currently applauding Duolingo for redefining social media strategy through their hilarious TikToks and public stunts. The other half of social media is still scarred, bewildered, and shocked.�

“My grandma at family dinner when I say shit like ‘Did you see the Duolingo owl got a BBL?'” one person said.

Another person wrote on Twitter: I can’t believe the Duolingo marketing team got approval to spend millions of dollars to run a 5 second Super Bowl ad of their mascot getting a BBL. So unhinged. I love it. No notes. 10/10.

Duolingo just crushed the Super Bowl. After airing this 5 second ad (which, lol), they immediately sent this push notification to all users, doubling down on owl booty. Extremely sound digital strategy. Totally ridiculous. Totally effective.
