Streams on ‘Spotify for Artists’ show zero as app is hit with a bug
Independent artists with fewer than 1000 streams on Spotify are irked by a glitch that’s not only stopping them from accessing the app but is also displaying their total streams as zero.
The platform addressed the issue on X/Twitter as a large number of artists became worried after their projects were hit with a bug.

‘Spotify for Artists’ is down due to a bug
Spotify for Artists is a feature available for musicians and their teams to showcase and track their work as well as keep fans posted about upcoming releases and events.
On Thursday, February 8, many small-scale musicians took to social media to complain about Spotify showing their total streams as zero, even though their count was much higher but fewer than 1000.
Users with recent releases assumed they wouldn’t get paid by Spotify as the real count of streams on their profile suddenly went missing. But, the app assured its users that its team was looking into the bug.
Furthermore, the glitching feature did not allow users to log into the app or access it on a desktop either.
“I can’t log in on the app or desktop. Please fix ’cause nothing’s working,” said one.
Another disappointed user wrote: “This really doesn’t look good. I work hard for my music to get on these major streaming platforms.”
“@Spotify, please tell me this doesn’t mean you won’t pay us for the streams. Some of my tracks were older than four years,” tweeted another.
App says their team is looking into the glitch
As the complaints started to grow, Spotify addressed the issue in a tweet.
“Hi. We’re aware of the bug that’s causing recent releases with fewer than 1000 streams on the Spotify for Artists mobile app to show 0. We’re working hard to land a fix soon, stay tuned! For now, you can click through to the release itself to view streams.”
The app encouraged affected users to get in touch with the Artists Support team to address the issues with the streams while it was being looked into.
Any Spotify user can claim an Artsits account to get their music on the platform by following the below steps:
- Choose a distributor
- Upload your music
- Access your dashboard
- Prepare for release
