Sudden VelociCoaster closure leaves Orlando Universal visitors in the dark
The closure of the Jurassic World VelociCoaster has not gone down well with attendees at Universal Islands of Adventure in Orlando, Florida.
The team at Universal’s Orlando Resorts has confirmed that the VelociCoaster was closed due to technical difficulties, though there has been little in the way of updates regarding the theme park attraction’s re-opening. Fans and visitors have made their feelings about the sudden closure well known to the Disney park rivals.
VelociCoaster closure reaches fourth day at Orlando Universal Park
The one thing worse than going to a theme park and spending all day queuing for your favorite rides is when you arrive only to discover that your favorite rides aren’t even open.
The VelociCoaster was closed for large parts of Saturday, February 3 and Sunday, February 4, and as of 4pm local time on Wednesday 7, there have been no reports of the Jurrasic Park attraction re-opening.
Taking to Twitter, Universal confirmed that the closure was due to “technical issues”, though failed to provide any further explanation.
At the time of writing, no official date or time has been given for the re-opening of the attraction, though Universal has urged customers to check the Orlando Resort App for regular updates on its status.
Parkgoers spot potential sign of life on dinosaur ride
In what could be a potential saving grace for those hoping to ride the Velociraptor-themed excursion in the coming days, there does appear to be some life in the currently sidelined machinery.
In footage obtained by a dedicated Universal Parks News account, the ride appeared to be operating, without any riders, as of this morning.
Though this doesn’t confirm that the ride will be re-opening immediately, it was generally agreed by viewers that this was a positive sign, as the ride does not appear to be overly damaged.
A new update from just after 4pm local time via a source inside the park claims that the ride is “testing frequently”.
Guests devasted by Velocicoaster closure
Despite the seemingly positive updates, several guests and soon-to-be guests let their feelings on the closure be known online.
“PRAYING they are able to somehow fix it by this weekend!!” Wrote one dejected customer. “Taking my friends for their birthday and i’ve been hyping this coaster up nonstop only to be constantly checking for updates since it closed”.
“Yall I am so nervous about VelociCoaster being down right now” added another. “Its the one thing I was most looking forward to doing, so I really really hope theyre able to get it open by the time I go”.
