9 ‘work from home rules’ that will make you love remote working

A TikTok user has outlined her 9 ‘work from home rules’ that she says will make you love working from home – and I agree with all of them.

I’ve been a completely remote worker for almost four years now and love every second, but have had to implement a similar routine to ensure that’s the case.

1. Wake up early

The first thing the TikTok user called Kristen does is wake up at least an hour before she starts work so she has time to do things for herself like skincare and having breakfast.

2. Don’t check emails

Another thing she swears by is not checking her emails before work starts. That message can wait an hour and your morning routine is time for you.

3. Physical paper planner

The next one is writing things down in a physical planner which she claims has been “life-changing” as it helps her feel organized and on top of things.

I genuinely used to hate wfh because I felt like my life had no order/routine and my wfh rules completely changed that for me! #wfhlife #wfh #workingfromhome #corporatelife #wfhrules #morningroutine #morningroutines #dayinthelife #greenscreen #workboundaries

4. Dedicated work space

It can be very easy to work from your bed or couch and it’s alright to do that sometimes, but having a dedicated desk will make a distinction between your home and office.

5. Take a lunch break

Another thing to do is make sure that you always take a lunch break. Don’t eat your lunch at your desk – you need that hour to reset.

6. Notification sounds off

The TikTok user said that turning her notification sounds off has been a work from home “game changer” as the email tone messes with her flow.

7. Use a walking pad

She also recommends using a walking pad to get active and boost your energy while working, but going for a walk on your lunch break also does the job.

8. Leave your desk on time

While working from home, it’s easy to work longer than your scheduled hours, but leaving work on time is really important for a good work-life balance.

9. Don’t check emails after work

Finally, Kristen says not to check your email after you log off. It’s so tempting to do, but that’s your time to switch off and recharge for the next day.
