American YouTuber and streamer Ninja has sent fans wild after shaving off his iconic blue locks and getting a low taper fade.
The 32-year-old did it on a whim after a musician asked what he’d look like with the hairstyle in a video which has become a viral meme.
Song about Ninja’s hair goes viral
It all started on January 5 when singer, songwriter, and record producer ericdoa was freestyling on his Twitch channel.
During the stream, he randomly sung the catchy line “Imagine if Ninja got a low taper fade?” which quickly took over the internet.
The song became a meme and fans began sharing pictures with Ninja photoshopped to have a low taper fade.
A taper fade is a style where the hair starts really short on the low sides and back and gradually gets longer.
Streamer gets a low taper fade
Just over a week later, on January 13, the streamer whose real name is Richard Tyler Blevins, did something nobody expected.
Ninja shaved off the floppy blue hair he is known for and actually got a low taper fade – all thanks to that song!
He took to TikTok to share a video of himself showing off his new hairdo with ericdoa’s original clip beside it.
In the clip which has had more than 5.7 million views, Ninja slowly lifts up the camera to reveal his new shaved brunette sides.
The singer then responded on Twitter/X with the word “wow,” clearly in shock that the streamer actually did it.
Fans have gone crazy
Fans instantly went wild in the comments, with one person writing: “BRO GOT THE LOW TAPER FADE.”
“Ninja actually got a low taper fade!” said another.
A third fan added: “Can’t believe he actually did it.”
However, others are claiming the hairstyle he got isn’t actually a low taper fade, it’s just a low fade. Either way, it’s still hilarious!
Now, the meme continues to take over social media and the sound has become an internet anthem which looks like it’s here to stay.
