Video of man demanding a refund from Arby’s sparks fierce debate on TikTok
The TikTok video of a man demanding a refund at an Arbys drive-through has sparked immense pushback online, with some dubbing him a Male Karen.
A term that has risen to popularity in recent years, a Karen is described as a middle-class white woman who is perceived as entitled or demanding beyond the scope of what is normal. They are known to send food back, often rudely, which is precisely why a TikTok creator was called one following his 2-minute-long rant.
He was not pleased with his order
Earlier this week, TikTok user Promo Infinity (@promoinfinity) took to the platform with a scathing rant at an unimpressed Arbys employee. You see, his food had taken 15 minutes to get ready.
I ordered my food and it took them 15 minutes to get my order. I cancelled my order cuz it took so long to get my order. As soon as I told them I want a refund, I get my food. And youre telling me I cant get a refund, he told the employee through the window, who identified herself as Bethany.
Bethany offered to replace the food but the TikTok creator was having none of it and insisted on getting a refund. Bethany refused.
This line will be backed up until I get my refund, he continued after stating he was going to bankrupt the business by sending the video viral on TikTok. It had 122 likes at the time of writing.
Shocker, he did not get the refund.
Despite insisting that it was going to blow up on the app, most other TikTok users were firmly on the side of Bethany.
One person wrote: As a formal worker in the food industry, I applaud her for how much patience she had. I would of let him sit there and left to go take my break.
PromoInfinity you are certified proof male Karens exist, another person scathed, as a third said, We love you Bethany!
A lot of commenters had actually made their way over from YouTube, where streamer Moist Critical rinsed him in a similarly angry rant.
He said in his video: Is it unusual to wait 15 minutes for your fast food order? Yeah. But is it the biggest deal in the world? No. You can handle it like an adult instead of this little winey baby here. Maybe there was just a mistake that happened.
