‘Puppy Coded’ meaning explained

Puppy Coded is a phrase used to describe a person who is bubbly, energetic and social – just like a young dog.

“Being puppy coded is having a soft, bubbly personality and being very outgoing and excited, like a puppy,” Urban Dictionary explains.

Puppies are known for being cute and playful. They love to be around people and everyone wants to be around them too.

If a person is ‘Puppy Coded’, they have these personality traits too and it’s usually seen as a compliment towards them.

It’s similar to ‘Golden Retriever’

‘Puppy Coded’ goes hand in hand with ‘Golden Retriever’, another slang term usually used to describe a girlfriend or boyfriend.

It’s “a significant other that is easygoing and makes it fairly simple to maintain a happy and fulfilling relationship,” Urban Dictionary says.

They are soft, overly friendly, bubbly individuals who are a joy to be around, just like Golden Retriever dogs.

Everyone adores them and they make friends really easily as they have a positive and warm aura about them.

This is the opposite of a ‘Black Cat’, a more quiet, reserved and introverted person who is shy and calm.
