Meaning of ‘Gutter Bunny’ explained as new rap slang takes over TikTok
The term ‘Gutter Bunny’ has gone viral on TikTok this month alongside videos of girls rapping along to hip-hop songs.

Meaning of ‘Gutter Bunny’ on TikTok
‘Gutter Bunny’ is a term that describes white girls who rap along to tracks by black rappers word for word.
“This term was coined on TikTok to identify attractive Caucasian women that can recitelyrics bar for bar on some hood rap songs,” Urban Dictionary explains.
One viral video sees a girl lip-syncing along to NBA YoungBoy’s Bad Bad, while two girls rap 22Gz’s Twirlanta in another.
It derives from the phrase ‘Snow Bunny’, another social media slang term which refers to white girls who only date black guys.
Hip-hop has always been associated with black culture and formed in 1970s New York amongst African Americans and immigrants from the Caribbean.
People hate the Gutter Bunny trend
The trend hasn’t gone down very well on TikTok as people call it fake, annoying and hilarious – in all the wrong ways.
One person wrote on Twitter/X: “The Gutter Bunny trend is so funny because most of them deffo sat for 5 hours trying to learn lyrics from a genre/artist they dont regularly listen to. BE YOURSELF!!”
“The Gutter Bunny trend needs to die now!!! They think its a compliment lol,” said another.
A third person added: “White women are calling themselves ‘Gutter Bunnies’ for black male attention now for lip singing to rap songs&uhhh.”
“Blocking every ‘Gutter Bunny’ I see, I don’t care get that s*** off my For You Page,” someone else added.
Slang term has other meanings too
In other contexts, the phrase Gutter Bunny could also be used in an insulting way, to describe a dishevelled and promiscuous woman.
Another definition on Urban Dictionary says it’s someone who “pretends they’re anexpertabout something they knowvery little about”.
It can also be a derogatory term towards cyclists “who cycle in the streetgutterbecause they fear being run over by cars”.
