After a year-long wait, Spotify users can finally unlock their Playlist in a Bottle from the past year using a link many are finding difficult to spot. The personalized time capsule lets you revisit your past listening habits as well as displays the message you had sent to your future self. So, let’s travel back in time for a musical ride.
Link to unlock Spotify’s Playlist in a Bottle in 2024
You have until January 31, 2024, to unlock your Playlist in a Bottle on Spotify, and all it takes is the right link followed by a few simple steps:
- Ensure you are logged into your Spotify account on your mobile device when visiting spotify.com/playlistinabottle.
- Once you’ve landed on the main page displaying the time capsule from 2023, select “Claim Your Playlist” to revisit the song you sealed previously.
- Save the playlist and it will automatically appear in your library to listen, share and compare with friends.
Note to users: Spotify’s Playlist in a Bottle feature is only available to those who had sealed songs in 2023. Some are under the assumption that the time capsule isn’t working for them while ignoring the fact that they hadn’t created one in the past year.
But, it’s not too late as you can still create a playlist out of your current music habit and seal it to open in 2025.
How to create a new time capsule for 2025
Remember, once you’ve sealed the bottle with your playlist in the current year, it’ll be sent into the future and can only be opened in 2025. You have until January 31 to seal your playlist in a bottle and you can create a new time capsule by following a few simple steps:
- Visit the same link we have mentioned above.
- Select from different icons such as a bottle, snow globe, or even a flip phone to lock your playlist in.
- You need to answer a series of prompts to choose the songs you want to add to the time capsule. These may include a song that reminds you of your favorite person, a song your great-grandkids will be confused about, and a song you put your friends on to.
- Leave a personal message for your future self and Spotify also suggests capturing a moment you want to be reminded of next year. This may be related to a favorite track of yours that you can “listen to a hundred times over.”
- Seal your musical time capsule and wait until 2025 to open it. You can also post your #PlaylistInABottle share card on different social media platforms.
Users react to messages from 2023 for their future self
Spotify users who have already uncooked their time capsule from 2023 have taken to X/Twitter to share the message they had written for their future selves.
One user shared: “Opened the message in a bottle Spotify playlist and this was so real of me.”
Another wrote: “Opened last year’s Spotify message in a bottle playlist. Things may have changed. But I don’t look bad on that.”
“Spotify is so cute. I had forgotten I had sent a message to myself in 2023,” commented another.
