StoryGraph asks users to backdate their reading progress as app isn’t working
The StoryGraph app is currently down due to an “unprecedented number of new signups”. The company had to take the app offline for maintenance, but users needn’t worry as you can backdate your reading progress by following a few simple steps.

StoryGraph app is down for maintenance
When a significant number of users complained about not being able to access the StoryGraph app, the company confirmed in a post on X/Twitter that it was taken down to upgrade the servers.
“Due to an unprecedented number of new signups, we’ve had to take the app offline in order to upgrade our servers. We’re very sorry for the downtime,” the post read.
However, StoryGraph hasn’t revealed when the app will be back online. At the time of writing, six hours after the issue was addressed, it is still not functioning for a lot of users.
One user dreading they would lose their streak on the app wrote: “StoryGraph is down and I just finished my book” followed by crying emojis.
”StoryGraph being down temporarily is so unfortunate,” added another.
“Okay so the day after I set a New Year’s resolution to read more, StoryGraph goes down,” wrote a third user.
Backdate your reading progress when the app isn’t working
StoryGraph shared in a post on X: “You’ll be able to backdate your reading progress to maintain your streaks/January Pages Challenge once we’re back online!”
As several users were confused about how it’s done, StoryGraph explained the steps to follow to backdate.
Note down what your progress would have been come end of day (if the app is not back up by then). Then enter that into the app, but click “Add note/edit date” and set the date to be the day prior.
For the unversed, the book tracking app is touted as Goodreads’ competitor, with features that allow you to rate the books you’re reading, track your progress, and interact with fellow users on the site’s community page.
StoryGraph was founded by Nadia Odunayo in 2019, and the app has attracted a large number of users in the past years, with readers finding its personalized features appealing and convenient to use.
