Were just two days into Dry January but already, you might be seeking that comic relief. Quitting alcohol certainly isnt funny, but these Dry January memes about it are.
After the festive period, quitting booze is what most of us need. Dry January started in 2012 and in the years since has become a hugely popular challenge.
31 days without alcohol might seem hard, but its doable and an inspiration for some pretty relatable memes.

Dry January is becoming more and more popular
Alcohol Change UK introduced Dry January in 2012, as an initiative to ditch the hangover, reduce the waistline, and save some serious money by giving up alcohol for 31 days.
The benefits are clear: a 2019 survey of over 6,000 participants found that 86% saved money, 81% felt more in control, 70% were sleeping better, 67% had better concentration, 66% had more energy, 65% had generally better health and 54% had lost weight.
Despite the benefits being huge, Dry January can be a testing mission. According to CivicSciene, 41% of US adults intended to take part in Dry January last year, but only 16% actually managed to make it all the way through.
Given the statistics, communicating about the toughness of Dry January, albeit through some hilarious memes, is one way you can take the load off.

Other ways to get through the alcohol-free month
Sharing memes isnt the only way you can encourage yourself and others to continue with the challenge.
Alcohol Change UK suggests participants make a list of all the things they hope to gain from Dry January. Then rank them in order of importance – give them a score out of 10. Take a look at your list and focus on how you’ll achieve all these wonderful things. Yes, you’ll probably save a bit of cash but what has really inspired you to take this journey? How will you feel when you succeed? says the organization online.
They recommend writing it down on a piece of paper and placing it somewhere you will visibly see throughout the month, like your fridge or your working desk.
Alcohol Change also suggests you tell people about your Dry January. Though it can be tempting to keep hush about it in order to avoid embarrassment if you waiver, posting to social media (maybe through some hilarious memes!) is a great way to hold yourself accountable and to let others know.
