Woman left tearful after newly rescued dog is spotted by original owner during walk
A dog owner was left shocked after spotting his loved pet with a new owner, months after she went missing.
Lillian had welcomed dog Miel into her home in Mexico at the start of December, after forming a bond with the assumed stray at her local cafe.
The new owner documented the moment she found out her dog wasnt a stray at all when the original owner called out to her while on a dog walk.
In a scene of honesty, Lillian says she was left heartbroken after having to return Miel to her original family but is allowed to visit her as she pleases.
Miel the dog was found at a local coffee shop
Lillian told the story of how she came to look after Miel in a TikTok video on her account with 300,000 followers. Dog Miel began showing up at a local cafe shortly after running away from her family, unbeknownst to Lillian.
She has a really calm personality. Shes a bit skinny, Lillian said in the video.
Miel was unable to sleep at the cafe overnight and so would hang out in the streets at night, after sleeping at the cafe all day. Eventually, the police warned that if they didnt remove her from the plaza, she would be taken to the pound.
Despite her tenancy contract not allowing pets, her landlord made a temporary exception after she begged for the dog to stay for a few days. Lillian had even documented Miels first bath at the home and took her on a shopping trip at a pet store for the essentials. Her plan, she explained, was to take Miel back to the US in January for her mom to care for.
Reunited with her original family
While on a walk downtown on December 8th however, Lillian heard a call. We were literally just walking her downtown and he was like Thats my dog. He had pictures of her and everything. The whole story lined up. She escaped nearly two months ago and thats when she started showing up at my friends coffee shop downtown, explained a tearful Lillian.
Lillian explained in a comment that Miel is actually called Oba. When she reunited with her original owner, she jumped all over him and squealed and barked and laid down on the floor. He was crying. We drove them home and when she got home, she was so excited and his kids came to the door. They couldnt believe she was home. Everyone was tearing up.
In a strange coincidence, the original owner is actually the head server at Lillians boyfriends old workplace. Despite Lillian being left emotional by the situation, she explained that it actually works out for everyone involved.
At least I know the guy and can go and visit her, she said, adding that she plans to still cover the cost of her vaccinations and getting fixed. They charge nearly his weekly salary so I am paying for her vaccines and surgery with proceeds for this video.
TikTok celebrated the viral reunion
After gaining interest in TikTok, Lillian was thanked and supported for reuniting Miel with her original owners.
