‘Stay at home girlfriend’ has $17k monthly shopping budget for staying fit and ‘cooking every meal’

Nia Chi has left TikTok users bewildered by her lifestyle as a stay at home girlfriend, as she detailed the strict rules and financial rewards supposedly put in place by her boyfriend.

The weird and wonderful world of TikTok regularly provides a glimpse into the everyday lives of people you most likely would not have come across otherwise. And one user’s lucrative, patriarchal style relationship is splitting viewers down the middle on the ethics of being a ‘stay at home girlfriend’.

Strict lifestyle of’ stay at home girlfriend’ Nia Chi wows TikTok

Though some may find their setup rather bizarre, Nia Chi appears to have no qualms with sharing the inner workings of her role as a ‘stay at home girlfriend’ on social media.

According to Chi, her boyfriend, who remains nameless, has set a number of rules for her that she must strictly adhere to in order to receive a monthly budget and several additional payments.

The rules Chi must stick to include not getting “fat” by staying under 130lbs, cooking her boyfriend’s every meal, spending “no more than $17k on shopping sprees per month” and dressing “modest.”

Chi claimed in another TikTok that she retired from her job as a model and social media personality back in August, and now lives off the monthly allowance set by her boyfriend.

On top of the monthly payments and the rules laid out by her boyfriend, Chi was also keen to show off a number of spontaneous bank transfers she claimed her boyfriend had made.

In one instance, a screenshot of a text conversation between the pair revealed that the unnamed boyfriend had sent Chi $500 simply for “being pretty”, while on another occasion she received $1000 from him because she had told him she felt sad that day.

Another conversation appeared to show the boyfriend sending Chi $250 after telling her that she had been “very annoying today”, with the goal of motivating her “to do better”, suggesting that the anonymous partner uses his role as the relationship’s financier to control his partner’s behavior.

Chi notes in her bio that her contest is “mostly satire”, so it is unclear whether all of her claims should be taken entirely seriously.

TikTok is split over the ‘stay at home girlfriend’ set up

The response to Chi’s controversial relationship setup was rather mixed.

While some TikTok users viewed her stay at home position as empowering, claiming that it provides Chi with a certain degree of financial freedom, others argued that their relationship reinforced traditional gender roles.

“Idk why people coming for u”, wrote one viewer in defense of Chi. “(Because) for $17k a month I would be doing this easy”, they continued.

“Y’all mad at her cuz you do it for freeeeeee”, wrote another user.

Others were not so keen on the idea, however. “I could never” responded one commenter, whose sentiments were echoed by another user who wrote: “It’s all fun & games until you get traded”, suggesting that they believe Chi’s position makes her susceptible to being at her partner’s disposal.
