Best days of the week for chores, relaxation, and productivity revealed by experts
Somedays, somedays, somedays just ain’t so easy. But why is it easier to do chores on Wednesdays and plan for the future on Thursdays?
Extreme procrastination comes at a cost, not only to productivity but also to our health. Its all well and good to master a morning routine, but what if there are certain days of the week that its best to embark on particular projects, or take on certain undertakings? The Focus spoke to not one, not two, not three, but four experts in the fields of productivity and self-improvement to find out how best to juggle a weeks responsibilities.

Do your chores on a Wednesday
Barbara Schumann Lamb is a strategist and leadership speaker. She says its easier to do chores on Wednesdays or Thursdays.
Why? Because theyre calmer than Mondays or weekends, and spreading chores throughout the week helps avoid burnout.

Moreover, completing small tasks during the week, when there might not be extended periods available to undertake larger projects, leaves the weekends freer to tackle bigger tasks.
Kristie Tse agrees. Shes a psychotherapist who works with her clients on how timing and environment can impact both individual and household productivity and mental health.
Wednesday is an optimal day to tackle house chores, she says. As energy often wanes midway through the week, transforming chore time into a routine breaks up the monotony and redistributes mental load more evenly.
Personally, I’ve found that setting aside uninterrupted time on Wednesdays creates a balance, preventing the weekend from being burdened with tasks, thus preserving time for self-care and rejuvenation.

Thursdays are the least stressful days for Gen Z
Oryna Shestakova is the head of communications for an education consultancy firm. Her company recently conducted a study into how members of Generation Z (anyone born between 1997 and 2012, roughly) experience performance anxiety.
Of the days of the week, she says, Thursday ranks the least stressful.
For people who have lots to do on weekends, experience anxiety about social events taking place on weekends, or find themselves plagued by Fear of Missing Out (FOMO), this midweek break may offer some relief before the weekend rush.
According to the survey, Monday is seen as the most stressful day of the week among Gen Zers. This is unsurprising, but the level of anxiety experienced drops off dramatically after Monday.
Pressure to perform well contributes to anxiety in over 80% of Gen Z, Oryna says. Some 62% admit to prioritizing external achievements over their mental well-being, which is a pretty significant number.

Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays are the best days for serious work
Alex Schlesinger is the founder and chief executive of Active Mutual, a life insurance firm. He says that for his staff and clients, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings are consistently our highest-performing times for client engagement and policy discussions.
Midweek days are best because clients have cleared their Monday commitments and are therefore able to focus on important financial decisions with a fresh perspective. Tasks that have piled up over the weekend are no longer distractions.
In fact, he adds, we’ve found that scheduling policy presentations during these peak days results in a 40% higher conversion rate compared to other weekdays. 40 percent! Meanwhile, Thursday afternoons are the best time to talk about following up on policy details.
Clients are more receptive to conversations about family protection and future planning on Thursdays, he says. Were not all out here making decisions about our insurance policies, but maybe theres a lesson to be learned here.
Think about the present on Tuesdays. Complete your chores on Wednesdays. Plan for the future on Thursdays. What about Fridays? Thats up to you.
Alex Schlesinger has worked in finance for 15 years, in both the UK and US. His company is called Active Mutual.
