Redhead thinking she ‘smells different’ than the rest of the population is baffling
There are numerous myths about redheads who make up a minute part of the population. For the unversed, these are people with red hair, also known as ginger hair.
Redheads are so rare that they are often viewed as “special” and “different”, while some argue that they have “genetic superpowers”. TikTok user Phoebe Aka Phoebeisginger1 makes a similar remark about one of her supposed traits leaving people perplexed.
Redhead thinks she ‘smells different’
Phoebe, who identifies as a “ginger”, claims in one of her latest videos that she has a unique smell – a “survival trait” among all redheads.
She says “All redheads stink of piss” stating evolution as the reason. Before discussing her claims further, we want to remind you that Phoebe’s justification isn’t backed by science or any evidence.
In her narrative which is clearly mythical, the TikTok user explains that redheads were “hunted and killed” back in the day because they were believed to be “witches.”
“Those redheads needed a way to repel all the predators that were trying to kill us and get rid of us. And (there was) only one way that we could do this – that was to make a smell of urine,” she says.
She claims all her ancestors survived by being a “big stink” although there is no reasonable explanation for her wild narrative. Moreover, fellow redheads have argued in the comments that they surely don’t smell like pee or any different from non-redheads.
Unique trait of people with ginger hair
Although it hasn’t been established that redheads have a unique stench like Phoebe claims, their ability to smell different isn’t unheard of.
A New York Post article from years ago states a fact from Dr. Augustin Galopin’s 1886 book, Le Parfum de la Femme, in which he reportedly wrote that “redheaded women emit a particularly distinct aroma that of ambergris, an earthy and sensual scent.”
The same article claims a study from the recent past found that redheads have skin mantle – a thin, acidic film on our skins surface�- that is more acidic in people with ginger hair.
This unique trait supposedly causes “perfume to more quickly evaporate when applied and potentially emitting a unique smell of its own.” However, it doesn’t say anything about redheads smelling like piss or emitting bad odor for whatever reason.
