Simple iPhone trick will make your device faster if it’s started feeling sluggish

Is your iPhone starting to feel really slow? Well, this quick trick could be the answer to all your problems.

After a few years, Apple’s devices start slowing down and everything feels a bit sluggish. Apps begin lagging, scrolling feels slower and it takes longer to move between features. If you don’t want to upgrade to the newest model just yet, try turning on one setting which will improve the experience.

Trick to make your iPhone faster

It’s called Reduce Motion, one of Apple’s Accessibility features which are designed to make the device easier to use by allowing you to customize every aspect of your iPhone.

When you turn it on, it reduces visual movement on the screen, including the parallax effect of app icons, screen transitions and Siri animations.

This simplifies the entire iPhone experience. So, there won’t be any extra visual effects that are put there to make the app look more appealing – but how will reducing motion make your device faster?

Well, these animations require a lot of power. Turning them off means your phone has one less thing to process, so its speed and performance will slightly increase.

How to turn on ‘Reduce Motion’

The feature can quickly be turned on in Settings in just a few clicks.

  1. Open ‘Settings’
  2. Go to ‘Accessibility’
  3. Click on ‘Motion’
  4. Turn on ‘Reduce Motion’

More ways to speed up your iPhone

If your iPhone is running slow, Apple says you should also:

  • Check your network connection: Your phone will be slow if it’s not connected to the internet properly.
  • Close apps that aren’t responding: Force close apps by swiping up from the bottom of the home screen.
  • Free up storage space: When your phone is almost full, it will slow down. Always have at least 1GB of storage space left.
  • Turn off Low Power Mode: When Low Powder Mode is on, some features are turned off and tasks may take longer to complete.
  • Check your device’s temperature: Make sure your device isn’t too hot or cold as this will slow it down.
  • Look at battery health: Check your battery health in Settings > Battery. A degraded battery slows your iPhone’s performance and is a sign it’s time to upgrade.
